Community Terms and Guidelines

Last updated 12 October 2026. See also the Privacy Notice.

1. What the community is

Journal Indexes, a project of Yuvijen run by Vijayakumar P and Rani C ("we", "us"), lets signed-in visitors share comments about academic journals: for example how long a first decision took, how a submission ended, or what an article processing charge was. These are personal experiences from visitors. They are not facts we have checked, and they are not advice.

2. Index information is separate

Whether a journal is listed in Scopus, Web of Science, ABDC, FT50, UT Dallas, DOAJ and other lists comes from the official sources named on each journal page. Comments never change that information. Always confirm a journal's status with the official sources before you submit to it.

3. Who can comment

  • You need an account. Sign in with Google or GitHub; we do not collect a separate password.
  • You must be 18 or older.
  • You are responsible for everything posted from your account.

4. Your comments

  • You own what you write. By posting, you give us a free, worldwide permission to display, store and, where needed, remove or edit your comment on this site and show it in the community feed. You can ask us to remove it at any time.
  • You choose how your comment is named: your first name and the first letter of your last name (for example "Priya S."), a name you choose, or "Anonymous". Your email address is never shown.
  • Anonymous and chosen names are not hidden from the site owner. We keep the link between a comment and the account that posted it so that abuse can be dealt with, and we may have to disclose it if the law requires. A chosen name must not pretend to be another person, the site or its staff.
  • We email you when someone replies to your comments, and nothing else in those emails. You can stop them with one click in any such email, or on the Community page. Any other email from us, such as index-change updates, only follows a choice you make.
  • Optional fields (your role, weeks to first decision, outcome, fees paid, rating) are shown with your comment and may be summarised, for example as an average rating for a journal.

5. What you may post

Write about your own experience: what happened, when, and what you paid or waited. Be accurate and fair. Say "in my experience" or "I was told" when that is what you know.

6. What you may not post

  • Statements you know are false, or accusations of fraud, bribery, a crime or other wrongdoing that you cannot back up.
  • Personal attacks, insults, harassment or discrimination.
  • Private information about any person: names of reviewers or editors who reviewed your work in confidence, email addresses, phone numbers, or anything that identifies someone not already public in their role.
  • Confidential peer-review material.
  • Advertising, promotion, or text copied from elsewhere without permission.
  • Anything unlawful, or that infringes someone else's rights.
  • Repeated or automated posting, or using more than one account to raise or lower a journal's rating.

7. How we moderate

  • Comments appear straight away, except those containing a link or web address, which wait for our approval.
  • Anyone signed in can report a comment. A comment with three reports is hidden until we have looked at it.
  • We may hide, edit or remove any comment, and suspend an account, at our discretion, including for breaking section 6. We are not required to publish or keep any comment.
  • We do not review comments before they appear, so we cannot promise that every comment follows these rules.

8. Reporting a comment, and takedown requests

If a comment is about you, your journal or your organisation and you believe it is false, harmful, private or unlawful:

  1. Use the Report link under the comment, or write to us at contact@journalindexes.com or through the contact page.
  2. Tell us which comment (the journal page and, if you can, the date and name shown) and why you object.
  3. If you say something is false, give us what you can to show it.

We aim to reply within 7 days. We may hide a comment while we look into it, and we will decide in good faith. We may ask the person who wrote it for a response, and we may keep a record of requests and our decisions.

9. Removing your own comments

You can delete your own comments with the Delete link. This hides them from the site. To have a comment, or your whole account, permanently erased, contact us; see the Privacy Notice.

10. No guarantee, and limits on our responsibility

We provide this community "as is". We do not guarantee that comments are accurate, complete, current or lawful, and we are not responsible for what visitors write. Comments express the views of the people who post them. Do not rely on them for decisions about where to publish; check the journal and the official sources yourself. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from your use of the community or from reliance on a comment. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have by law that cannot be limited.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If you keep using the community after a change, you accept the new terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes go to the courts of India, subject to any rights you have by law.
